Rudy Chalmers writes songs for a world that hasn’t happened yet.

Born and raised in South Africa, Rudy was coloured by music before he knew the words for it. He soaked up the sounds around him — soul, funk, R&B and hip-hop — until they became the lens through which he saw the world, and eventually the language he used to speak back to it.

His musical journey started as a rapper — his lyricism is all over his first mixtape Fears & Fantasies, where he first found his voice as a writer before growing into the singer, songwriter and producer he is today. He writes and records nearly everything himself, treating each release as its own short film. His live show is loose and generous — part concert, part congregation, part fashion moment.
